For turkey burgers, I aim for about 90% lean turkey, sometimes combining two packages of ground turkey with different fat content to get there. Leaner sounds healthy, but it doesn’t hold together in a burger. We always make extra burgers to eat for lunch the next day. Besides, ground turkey comes in 1 lb. packages so we can either make 4 burgers or 8. It’s always better to have extra, right?
Turkey Burgers
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. ground turkey
- 1 package dried onion soup mix
- 8 hamburger buns
- 8 slices provolone cheese
- 8 slices tomato about 2 tomates
- 8 leaves lettuce
- 4 tablespoons low fat mayonaise optional, 1/2 tablespoon per burger
Instructions
- Preheat a gas grill to medium high, or heat a large skillet to medium high. Mix the soup mix and turkey together in a large bowl. Form into 8 quarter pound burger patties. Grill until cooked through, about 4 minutes per side on the grill. Serve with a slice of provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, and a lightly grilled hamburger bun. Mayo on the bun is optional.
